> The system of ''winner take all'' causes minor parties to not receive electoral votes; usually won by democrats or republicans >Media places more emphasis on large parties (ex. Republicans) which put smaller parties at a loss by not being informed to the public >Small parties usually focus on few issues which cause it to be very unpopular amongst populations; some issues are not important as to others > Funding for small parties negativly effect small parties by not being able to have big campaigns and not being able to inform the public about their party

Parties which are based on a certain set of beliefs or ideas ; usually comprehensive views of social, economical, and political matters.

Single issue parties are parties which are concerned with usually one main issue; usually a topic which is controversial

Parties which are based in certain regions, mostly ones involving farmers who are upset with economy and how goverment is doing it's job badly. These parties tend to dissapear once conditions improve

Splinter parties are parties which broke off a larger party forming a smaller party of their own; parties formed usually by the minority in the larger party.

Roles of Minor Parties

>Minor parties sometimes have enough popularity to take votes which can negativly hurt a major party

>Minor parties have also shaped American politics by emphasizing the importance on certain issues; in result raising awareness

>Minor parties tend to focus on one issue which leads to better plans for that issue. on the other hand, larger parties may sometimes steal their idea or just adopt it in order to capture more votes

> The Green party focuses on abolishing the death penalty

> Ralph Nader played as popular candidate and has raised the awareness of the Green Party by being its Spokesperson

> The Green party agrees on have a universal health care system

> The Green party is in odds with having nuclear power

Green Party History: -First organized meetings in 1984 -first Ballot held in 1986 -Alaska first state to hold ballot for green party -Ralph Nader joined green party in 1996

-The Green party beleives a goverment isloated from business and with a smaller budget will help raise the importance of the people's money and issues concerning US. -The Green party beleives their should also be less goverment involvement but more urgency amongst them.

> The Green party wants Complete withdrawal from Iraq under UN supervision

> The Green party is a firm beleiver of universal health care and also beleives that health care is a human right

> The Green party is anti-death penalty and beleives we should focus on crime prevention instead of harsher sentences

> The Green party is against nuclear power and this image depicts one of their main views
